What is GRE?

It is an exam conducted by ETS New Jersy which acts as a universal measure of one's verbal and quantitative reasoning, analytical writing and critical thinking.

Why should I take up GRE?

GRE is one of the criteria of admission to international universities for masters and Ph.D. in science and arts. It is widely accepted in global B schools.

What are the eligibility criteria for GRE?

There is as such no set eligibility criteria for GRE but you must fulfill eligibility criteria for the specific program you want to apply for. Usually, graduates in humanities, science and engineering take up this test to pursue higher studies at the international level.

Where is GRE conducted?

GRE is mostly conducted online in the following cities: Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Gandhinagar, Gurgaon, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nashik, New Delhi, Nizamabad, Patna, Pune, Trivandrum, Vadodara and Vijawada. New centres may be added for 2019. Some of these centers offer online tests while others may offer paper-based tests.

What is the cost of GRE?

It costs $195 which is approx. INR 13000.

When to apply for GRE?

There are no specific GRE Exam dates in India. You can take it any time of the year by taking an appointment with the closest GRE exam center.

But during peak season there may be issues with availability of the centre.

What are the documents required for GRE?

You need no birth certificate or any other photo ID for GRE. The only document required is your valid original passport, not a photocopy. They are very strict about it.

What is the structure of the GRE exam?

GRE Test is divided into three sections:

·         Analytical writing: it has two separately timed tasks. One to analyze an issue and the other to analyze an argument. Time allotted is 30 minutes per task.

·         Verbal reasoning: It again has two parts having 20 questions each. Time allotted is 30 minutes per section.

·         Quantitative reasoning: This one also has two sections of 20 questions each. The time allotted is 35 minutes per section.

How can I use my GRE score?

You will be notified by an email when your score is ready to be served to you. You can log into My GRE account on the ETS website and check your score.
